Applications are now open for the South African Cultural Observatory (SACO) Scholarships. The South African Cultural Observatory (SACO) is inviting postgraduate students to apply for its 2025–2027 Scholarship Programme. This opportunity supports South African nationals pursuing postgraduate studies at a South African university.

The South African Cultural Observatory (SACO) is a national statistical and socio-economic research project, established by the Department of Sport, Arts & Culture, with the purpose of developing a comprehensive cultural information system in South Africa.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for South African Cultural Observatory (SACO) Scholarships, applicants are expected to meet the following conditions:

  • Must be an African national.
  • Must hold a bachelor’s degree with first class or second class

Benefits

  • SACO offers a contribution of up to R40,000 toward tuition fees and academic expenses. Please note: This is a partial scholarship and does not cover full tuition or all expenses.

  • Admission letter indicating full-time registration (if available)
