Applications are being accepted from adequately qualified individuals for the IIASA Young Scientists Summer Programfor PhD students to carry out a scientific project on a subject connected to the IIASA research agenda.
Up to 50 PhD students from all over the world participate in IIASA’s Young Scientists Summer Program each year. Young Scientists Summer Program candidates are urged to utilize the program to advance their research and communication abilities.
About IIASA Young Scientists Summer Program
The International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) is a global research organization that advances systems analysis and applies its research techniques to find policy answers that will lessen human impact on the environment, increase the resilience of natural and socioeconomic systems, and contribute to the achievement of the sustainable development goals.
Each year, the institute’s Young Scientists Summer Program participants who have produced remarkable work are recognized with awards. They offer the winners financial assistance so they can return to IIASA for an additional three months of research.
Eligibility Criteria
Those interested in applying for the Young Scientists Summer Program 2022–2023 must fulfill the following criteria:
- Be a Ph.D. Student (ideally about 2 years prior to receiving their Ph.D.) working on a topic compatible with ongoing research at IIASA and a wish to explore the policy implications of their work.
- Applicants from all countries are welcome.
- Applicants must be able to be present at the institute (i.e. no fieldwork or working remotely) for the full duration of the program.
