Applications are presently being accepted from eligible and interested individuals for John Carroll University Merit Scholarships for International Students who desire to enroll in a degree program at the university for the 2022-2023 academic session.
John Carroll University was founded by the Society of Jesus in 1886. The 1920s also brought some other significant long-term changes to the University. Negotiations began for an east side site for the University. To go along with this change, on May 15, 1923, St. Ignatius College was renamed Cleveland University for a time. By September of the same year, the name was changed yet again for reasons that have never been completely clear. John Carroll University, named after Bishop John Carroll, the first American Bishop, became the official name

The Merit programs are quite competitive, and some special ones go beyond academic scholarships to honor devotion to leadership and service as well. All successful candidates will get this Merit scholarship, which has a maximum value of $27,000.

Applicants must fulfill the requirements listed below in order to be considered for the John Carroll University Merit Scholarships:
- Applicants must be international students.
- Applicants must enroll in a full-time program.
- Applicants must be ready for undergraduate courses at the university.
- Applicants must be in good standing with the Standards of Academic Progress.
- Applicants’ scholarship values are annual amounts that automatically renew for a total of four years, as long as academic and conduct standards are maintained.
- Applicants must have proof of English language proficiency.
