VLIR-UOS offers 29 scholarships to international students from Africa, Asia, and Latin America annually for training and master’s programs. The recipients of the scholarship will study at Flemish University, Flanders. The VLIR-UOS scholarship program also accepts applications for International Training Programs (ITP).

VLIR-UOS offers fully funded scholarships to international students which covers:

The Global Minds Doctoral scholarship program at KU Leuven

The Global Minds Doctoral scholarship program at KU Leuven selects exceptional applicants in developing countries for scholarship candidacy in their PhD program. Recipients of this scholarship spend 24 months doing research at KU Leuven and 24 months doing research at their home institution. This is called the ‘sandwich system’. Therefore, PhD candidates are co-financed by their home institution and by KU Leuven. The Global Minds Doctoral scholarship program covers the following:

  • Full tuition fee
  • Monthly stipends (€ 2,199 per month)

  • Airfare tickets
  • Research Allowance (€ 310 per month)

The ARES Belgium scholarship

The ARES Belgium scholarship allows international students to pursue bachelor’s, master’s, and continuing education training degrees at renowned Belgian universities. Over 130 scholarships are available for master’s and bachelor’s degree programs. 70 scholarships are given out for continued study or internships. Ares Belgium scholarships include the following:

Applicants for this scholarship must typically be residents of ARES member countries and must be under 40 years of age when applying for bachelor’s and master’s degree programs and 45 years or below when applying for training programs
