Applications are now being accepted from suitable individuals to enroll in Electrochemical Science and Innovative Materials for Sustainable African Development. ESIMSAD Intra-Africa Scholarship for African Students is organized by four African higher education institutions and one EU technical partner.
ESIMSAD is the European Union-funded Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme project in partnership with the Africa Union. Students and staff mobility between Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) is supposed to assist them acquire better knowledge and skills while also contributing to the quality and relevance of teaching and learning through practice exchanges.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants for the ESMAD Intra-Africa Scholarship must meet the following conditions:
- Applicants are ONLY from African countries nationalities
- Applicants for scholarships in the fields of:
- Materials Science,
- Solar Energy Physics,
- Inorganic Chemistry,
- Materials Electrochemistry and
- Energy Technologies and
- Physical Chemistry under ESIMSAD project.
Scholarship Objectives
The overall objective of the programme is to enhance human capital development in Africa, while strengthening intra-African collaboration as called for by Agenda 2063.
The programme’s specific objectives are to:
- Increase the employability of students;
- Improve the quality of higher education in Africa and its relevance to Africa’s development vision;
- Strengthen the modernisation and internationalisation of African higher education institutions, and
- Promote the development of an African higher education and research space.
Scholarship Benefit
- Round-trip flight ticket and visa costs.
- Participation costs such as tuition fees, registration fees and service fees where applicable.
- Insurance coverage (including health, accident, travel, respectively).
- A settling-in allowance.
- A monthly subsistence allowance.
- A contribution towards the research costs associated with student mobility of 10 months or longer.
- Female master and doctoral scholarship holders will receive an additional allowance corresponding to one month’s subsistence per academic term.
