Applications for the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Frontier Sciences Fellowship are now being accepted from qualified applicants who are interested in participating in the program. International students who are enrolled in PhD programs at the University of Tokyo will get financial assistance through this fellowship.
Its objectives are to encourage the enrollment of exceptional internationalstudents and to support outstanding, independently wealthy international students who are pursuing degrees at the University. The recipients will receive a research grant-in-aid of 200,000 yen each month until the end of the typical program duration (up to one year for research students).
About Graduate School of Frontier Sciences Fellowship
Along with the results of the entrance exam, applicants will also receive notification of the GSFS screening results for the fellowship. The Division of Global Campus Initiatives will conduct a final screening of the nominees chosen by GSFS before awarding the fellowship.
The month following enrollment will see the notification of the official, final screening results. Please take note that if you are nominated by GSFS for the Division of Global Campus Initiatives, you have a good chance of receiving the fellowship.

Eligibility Criteria
In order to qualify for a University of Tokyo Graduate School of Frontier Sciences Fellowship, applicants must fulfill the requirements listed below:
- Applicants must be international students
- Those who are applying for admission to a doctoral course of the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences.
- Those who hold a valid visa to stay in Japan as a “College Student”.
- Those who are not applying and/or planning to apply for fellowships or scholarships provided by private organizations.
