FirstRand has entered into a new partnership, for another five years, with the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies to allow an outstanding South African student to study for an MSc in African Studies at one of the world’s foremost universities, the University of Oxford.

Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the FirstRand Oxford African Studies Scholarship to the University of Oxford, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Applicants must have obtained relevant bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution of higher learning.
- Applicants must demonstrate excellent academic and research abilities.
- Applicants must be interested in studies related to African studies.
- Applicants must be a native of South Africa.
- Applicants must be willing to abide by the guideline governing the conduct of students at Oxford.
Scholarship Benefits | Funded FirstRand Oxford African Studies Scholarship
- The scholarship will provide full funding for one student a year to study for an MSc at the School of Global and Area Studies at the University of Oxford.
- The successful candidate will be housed at Wadham College.

Application Procedure
- FirstRand will conduct the interviewing and selection process, which will run concurrently with the FirstRand international postgraduate scholarship programme. Candidates will be assessed based on academic excellence, leadership ability, community involvement and their potential to be a destiny changer.
- Candidates have to apply and be accepted for an MSc in African Studies at the University of Oxford.
