Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the ETH Zurich Excellence Scholarships 2026 in Switzerland, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Applicants must have a very good result in Bachelor’s degree programme (top 10% of the bachelor’s degree programme).
  • Applicants must demonstrate excellent research abilities.
  • Applicants must be willing to abide by the rules governing the conduct of students at ETH Zurich.
  • Applicants must not already hold a master’s degree.

  • Excellence Scholarship & Opportunity Programme (ESOP):
    • Full coverage of tuition fees.
    • CHF 12,000 per semester for living and study expenses.
  • ETH-D Scholarship:
    • Partial funding (CHF 7,500 per semester).

How to Apply for ETH Zurich Excellence Scholarships

Interested applicants for the ETH Zurich Excellence Scholarships 2026 are to ensure that they submit their application within the first application window. Applicants will be required to upload a pre-proposal document for their master thesis in addition to the documents for the master’s admission.

Applicants must note that the pre-proposal for the master’s thesis must be developed by them and use established scientific citation practice. Plagiarism and negligent or intentional misinformation will lead to exclusion from the admission process or—if discovered later—to the revocation of the admission and of any scholarship.
