Scholarships offered by Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam

VU Fellowship Programme (VUFP)

Talented aspiring non-EU/EEA students have the rare chance to pursue a Master’s degree at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam under the VU Fellowship Programme (VUFP). VU Amsterdam has promised to provide about 1 million euros towards luring brilliant and highly motivated students. Only the cost of tuition is covered by the scholarship.

Holland Scholarship Programme

The Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science, as well as Dutch research universities and universities of applied sciences, provide funding for the Holland Scholarship Program (HSP). Students applying to the first year of a Master’s degree in the Netherlands who are not citizens of the European Economic Area (EEA) are eligible for this award. The scholarship is worth 5.000 euros, or 10.000 euros over the course of the program.

Orange Tulip Scholarship (OTS)

The Orange Tulip Scholarship Programme is supported by the VU Fellowship program. Excellent students from India, Indonesia, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, and Vietnam can now submit an application for the competitive VUFP/OTS fellowship. OTS scholarships waive tuition costs.

Fulbright Scholarships

Through the Fulbright U.S. Student Program, the Fulbright Center receives 20 to 25 students from the United States each year. The Fulbright grant will be paid in 12 installments of €1,300 each. A maximum of €1,000 will be paid for international travel. Additionally, the about $250 cost of the residency permit will be reimbursed. Although they vary per program, tuition expenses are not waived.

Orange Knowledge Programme

The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs provides funding for the program as part of its development cooperation strategy. Nuffic, a Dutch non-profit organization promotes internationalization in education, is in charge of running the subsidy program. It provides support for long-term, demand-driven collaborations between organizations in 19 participating countries and Dutch knowledge institutions.

NN Future Matters Scholarship

Nuffic is in charge of handling the scholarship, which is funded by NN. The Duisenberg honours track in Quantitative Risk Management, Business Administration, specialization in Financial Management, Business Administration, the Duisenberg honours track in Financial Markets and Regulation, and Computer Science are all available to students from the selected countries at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. $5,000 is the value of the scholarship. Throughout your first year of master’s studies, you will receive €4,500 in two payments of €2,250 each. Toward the completion of your studies, you will receive the remaining €500.

Desmond Fortes Scholarship

The FMO Entrepreneurial Development Bank is the source of funding for the scholarship program. This fellowship is intended for driven individuals from Asia and Africa who work for clients of FMO and have applied for the Master’s degree in Environment and Resource Management at VU Amsterdam.

How to Apply

To be considered for the scholarship, interested and qualified candidates must apply for and be accepted into a master’s program at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Please take note that before you can apply for the VUFP scholarship, you must already have conditional admission to the Master’s program.
